If you own a dog, then chances are you’ll want to share these happy experiences with your pup. Fortunately, there are easy healthy frozen dog treats that you can make at home just for your pooch. Take a look at these summer dog treats recipes and whip up a sweet creation for your favorite furry companion!

1. Frozen Fruity Dog Bones

If you enjoy making healthy smoothies, these adorable frozen dog bones will be a breeze. All you need is a bone-shaped silicone mold (which can be found online) or any other mold of your choice. This recipe includes dog-friendly ingredients to provide your pup with tasty flavors that will keep them cool in the process.

What you need:

  • 2 Tablespoons of Peanut Butter
  • ¼ Cup of Unsweetened Strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • ¼ Cup of Unsweetened Blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • ½ Cup of Non-fat Plain Yogurt
  • ¼ Cup of Water
  • Silicone Molds
  • Food Processor or Blender

Instructions:

  1. To make this summer dog treat, grab your food processor or blender and add the peanut butter, strawberries, blueberries, yogurt, and water.
  2. Blend this mixture until it has been thoroughly combined.
  3. If you see that the mixture is too thick, add a few tablespoons of water until the mixture has reached a creamy consistency (like the texture of soft-serve ice cream).
  4. Next, fill your molds with the mixture and place them into the freezer until it is frozen solid. This could take up to 4-6 hours.
  5. After your frozen dog bones are ready, serve to your pup for a nice cold treat!

2. Frozen Watermelon Popsicles

Every dog loves popsicles. They can take their time and enjoy the healthy frozen dog treat without indulging in it all at once. Try this recipe and your pooch will love you for it!

What you need:

  • 1 Can of Coconut Milk
  • A Quarter of a Seedless Watermelon (or about 5 cups of cubed watermelon)
  • Food Processor or Blender

Instructions:

  1. Slice down the watermelon and cube it.
  2. Add the coconut milk and watermelon to a food processor or blender and blend thoroughly until the ingredients are combined.
  3. Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and set it in a freezer.
  4. Wait 4-6 hours until the mixture is completely frozen.

Once this summer dog treat is fully frozen, pop out the watermelon “popsicles” and place them in your dog’s food dish for a cool treat that they can enjoy!
